Dr. Ronald O. Maxfield

I grew up in the Tri-Cities and graduated from Kennewick High School (1974), Brigham Young University (1981), the University of Washington School of Dentistry (1985), and USAF General Practice Residency (1986). I have been practicing in West Richland since 1990 and am a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society.

My wife Karen and I live in West Richland and have 3 grown children and a growing number of grandchildren. In addition to treating the needs of my patients, I enjoy reading, painting, sports, and spending time with my family.

Dr. Trevor D. Larson

I was raised in the Tri-Cities, and graduated from Richland High school in 1990. I love this area, and its people. The Tri-Cities has a rich variety of people and my long ties to this area reflect my love for it.

I completed my B.S. degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from Eastern Washington University, and completed dental school at UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. After dental school I returned home to the Tri-Cities where I enjoy treating many of the people I have known here over the years and, as always, I enjoy meeting and treating new people as well.

In my free time, I can be found outdoors. Kayaking, cycling, climbing, running, tennis, wakeboarding, and skiing are some of the ways I spends most of my free time. Getting my wife and 4 children to join me in these adventures makes them even better.

Dr. Jason Madsen

I am a native of the Richland Area. My early education included undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I attended dental school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated in 2001 with honors. After dental school I received additional training as a dental resident at the University of Utah Hospital. I have practiced dentistry at West Richland Family Dental Center since 2002.

My wife Karen and I have 4 children. I mostly enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, scuba diving and anything outdoors.

I strive to make each patient feel important, welcomed and at ease with their dental treatment. My greatest compliment is hearing how painless and easy treatment can be.

Dr. Michael D. Maxfield

I am happy to be back in the Tri-Cities with my wife Jessica and our 4 children. We enjoy being involved in the local community in many ways. I love spending time with my family, reading, skiing, scuba diving, traveling and anything outdoors.

I am excited to be a part of West Richland Family Dental. I love dentistry and want to ensure each patient feels comfortable and has a great dental experience in my care.

Richland Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep apnea and snoring treatments are not a one-size fits all solution. Every patient is unique, and we thoroughly evaluate every patient to determine which treatment option is best for you. At Sleep Better Northwest in the Tri-Cities area, we offer a range of possibilities to ensure that whatever your needs may be we can work together to meet them.

Sleep Hygiene

When it comes to sleep apnea and chronic snoring, the first step is to assess the factors that are currently preventing you from achieving a restful night’s sleep. Not every patient will need specialized treatment or an oral appliance, which is why we begin by evaluating patients to determine if adjustments to their sleep schedules and routines might address their sleep apnea.

Think of sleep hygiene as setting yourself up for a successful night’s sleep. Quality sleep hygiene includes various routines like avoiding alcohol and caffeine before bed, not exercising strenuously before sleep, not watching television in the bedroom, and other factors that can interfere with your sleep schedule and lead to sleep apnea.

Sleep Testing in Richland

If you believe that your sleep apnea cannot be addressed through adjustments to your sleep hygiene, then a sleep study conducted at home or in a Tri-Cities area sleep center may be your next step. Your primary care physician or a certified sleep physician can recommend the proper sleep test (either a home study or a Polysomnogram).

The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the the American Academy of Sleep Medicine require that obstructive sleep apnea be ruled out before a patient is approved for an oral appliance. Your sleep study will determine what your next course of action will be.

Oral Appliances

Oral appliances sound like something you buy at the hardware store, and many of our patients are only familiar with the C-PAP machine, a rather intimidating device. If the idea of an oral appliance makes you uneasy, don’t worry. Advancements in technology have made oral appliances easier to use, convenient to travel and store, and noise-free.

At Sleep Better Northwest in Richland, WA, we offer many of the following oral appliances: Somnomed MAS, Somnomed MAS Edentulous, TAP-3, SUAD, and Narval CC. Each appliance is tailored specifically to the patient in order to ensure both comfort and proper use. All our appliances are FDA approved.
