Sleep Apnea Appliance

Lugging Around A C-Pap While Traveling?

Posted on October 20, 2011 by Dr. Erin Elliott

Ready to hit the airways for the holidays?  I travel a lot around this time as I have family 7 hours away in Portland area and also in Northern New York.  Every time we travel my hubby asks me to bite my tongue.  I see people lugging around backpacks with their C-PAP and getting extra screening from TSA as if they have never seen this contraption before.  While I am glad that they even BROUGHT the machine to begin with I always want to walk up to them and tell them there is an alternative that might work for them and it fits into a 4” case.  What I also realize when I see so many C-PAP machines is how many travelers just leave them at home and take the chance of feeling miserable and snoring on their vacation.

I had a patient that we recently did our one-week check with.  He travels a lot for business and would fall asleep as soon as he buckled in and wake up when the plane landed.  We referred him for a sleep test and sure enough he had moderate sleep apnea.  After wearing his appliance for just one week he was a productive man again.  He couldn’t believe how much he got accomplished during his plane rides because he felt refreshed and energized!  Let us know if we can help because you don’t have to feel tired while traveling anymore.
